About the talk
This event kicks off a series of talks by experienced leaders organized by Multimedia University’s Leadership Centre. The Leadership Centre was founded to develop leadership knowledge and skills among Malaysians of all walks of life. Its corporate training arm provides public programmes and closed-programmes in Malaysia, Thailand, Japan and South Korea. Its education arm focuses on inviting distinguished speakers to share their experiences.
About the speaker
Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad was born in Alor Setar in 1925. He joined UMNO in 1946 and became a Member of Parliament in 1964. He has held many posts related to education prior to becoming Minister of Education in 1974. In 1976, Dr. Mahathir was made Deputy Prime Minister in addition to his Education portfolio. In 1981, he became the country’s fourth Prime Minister, a post that he held for 22 glorious years. During this time, Dr. Mahathir was instrumental in developing Vision 2020 and molding the development of Malaysian universities. Since stepping down in 2003, Dr. Mahathir has become the Honorary President of the Perdana Leadership Foundation and has, among other activities, dedicated his time to building a momentum for global peace.
